"Looking at Van Gogh's work in a different perspective. His life might have been a whirlwind mess but looking at the iris painting and other flowers he studied give me a sense of submission and grace. He felt this ambience despite the chaos in his mind. There is a lot to be said about studying something so elegant and understanding in a state of disruption. I think flowers today are seen as feminine and frill but I think historically they tell more of a story of life and love. Flowers tell a nonverbal story of admiration, hope and peace. If we carried out the same feelings towards our landscapes, would we just take better care of them? Maybe its not so much environmental awareness that we need to instil maybe its more the identification of ourselves through the beauty of our surroundings.."
